The Ashtanga Yoga Method
Ashtanga is an adaptable practice suitable for all humans. When possible, It begins with the Primary Series, also known as Yoga Chikitsa (yoga therapy). The Ashtanga Yoga system contains a total of six asana series and several pranayama (breathing) practices. Each posture or “asana” involves synchronized breathing and a gazing point or “drishti” which helps allow us to gain control of our senses. The postures are tied together with Vinyasa, which is specific movement with prescribed breathing. One affect this practice has is that it cultivates a deep awareness. The Ashtanga method purifies and detoxifies the body, builds strength and stamina, regulates digestion, steadies and calms the mind, and improves mobility of the muscles. Ashtanga yoga is a lifestyle practice involving patience and dedication. “Practice.. All is coming.”-kpj
